THE owners of a farm shop have been named among the semi-finalists in the West Country Women Awards 2023.

Beth Ashfield and Andrea Broadhurst, owners of Coldharbour Farm Shop & Field Kitchen, are among the semi-finalists in the Women in Food and Drink category.

The awards were created last year to celebrate and highlight the achievements of women across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset. As well as covering several types of business, they include women in charity, sport, arts and culture, and those involved in tackling violence against women and girls.

Coldharbour Field Kitchen's restaurant developed out of the Coldharbour Farm Shop café when, in July 2020, Covid restrictions were partially lifted to enable businesses to serve food outside.

Business owners Andrea and Beth started using a small outbuilding, and it proved so popular that they built a restaurant with spacious outdoor decking. The café and farm shop had already won silver and gold Taste of the West awards, and this year the business added a gold South West Tourism award to its trophies.

After making the semi-finals of the Westcountry Women Awards, Beth and Andrea said: “We’re thrilled to have made the top six in our category - and to be representing East Devon in these awards. All the semi-finalists in our category are absolutely amazing, and we’re proud to have made it this far. Fingers crossed for the next round!”

The finalists are being announced on October 30 at Powderham Castle, and the grand final ceremony with presentations to the winners will take place on December 1.
