A COMPANY that supplies automatic milking systems has acquired South West Dairy Services Ltd.

GEA Farm Technologies (UK) Ltd has taken on the firm to improve its offering to dairy producers. The purchase is also complemented by GEA's acquisition of Venture Dairy Services last year.

South West Dairy Services is owned by Philip and Rachel Squires and based in Cullompton, Devon. The business is one of the main GEA dealers.

The team stocks a comprehensive range of parlour parts and spares for most dairy equipment brands, as well as dairy hygiene chemicals and sundries. Their dedicated team of installers along with service engineers and dairy hygiene specialists work across Devon, Somerset and Dorset.

Simon Redfearn, managing director of GEA FT UK, said: “We look forward to improving further the high levels of customer service South West Dairy Services offer and the breadth of knowledge, skill and resources that has been built up over the years, by Phil Squires.

“This acquisition is a fantastic opportunity to further our growth strategy in the UK. Along with being part of the Milking Systems Technician Accreditation Scheme (MSTA), this acquisition by GEA means we are well placed to assist and partner in our customers’ progression in the dairy industry.”

South West Dairy Services will keep its branding, and customers will see very little change in the company. The team will be at the Royal Cornwall Show next month to showcase the GEA range.

Simon Harper, GEA director of sales for the UK, added: "Philip and Rachel have built a fantastic business within the South West with a dedicated, loyal experienced team, and we’re very happy to continue their legacy.

"It’s a fantastic well-respected dealership, with about 12 employees, and we look forward to working with them to continue growing the business.”
